1) A Christ-centred community without walls, unashamedly pursuing the power of the resurrection while relishing the fellowship of His sufferings.
2) Unashamed about the gospel of the Kingdom and His righteousness ‘and all these things shall be added’ (Matt 6:33)eg. initial salvation, healing, deliverance, social justice and society transformation.
3) Countercultural because this is an upside down, back to front, and inside out Kingdom.
4) Contemporary, relevant, Spirit-led Worship Services. Life-changing biblical prophetic teaching. Father-heart, holistic healing ministry.
5) The people of God not a building and the Spirit of God not a programme.
6) Leaders who are servant-leaders equipping the body in their particular capacity, rather than lording it over them (1 Peter 5:2,3).
7) The whole ‘body’ (eg. age and racial background), which is ‘the fullness of God, filling everything in everyway’ (Eph 1:23).
8) ‘Presence’ evangelism: God in our midst causing ‘koinonia’ (ie. non-exclusive fellowship) that reaches out as the Spirit leads (eg. prophetic, healing, buzz, servant and friendship evangelism)
9) God-given connections with others (predominantly Christians, other churches, para-church organisations) in Dee Why, Sydney, Australia, the Southern Lands and beyond.
10) A growing, spreading, continuous revival. Anything less is ‘remission’.
HISTORY
Dee Why Baptist Church began in 1939 as a fellowship of believers before any building was built. The main church sanctuary was built in 1942. The church was a traditional Baptist Church for many years.
In the 1960's it birthed the Christian Bookshop that still operates across the road.It also started the Pocket Testament League and planted 2 churches (Narraweena Baptist Church and the, now, Grace City Church in Collaroy).
10 years ago, in Greg’s first year at Dee Why the church was renamed NEW LIFE Baptist Church. Since that time God has brought NEW LIFE through a process of radically overturning the tables.
